One of the most shocking of the excesses of the Ceaucescu regime in Romania came to light last year with the discovery of fifty thousand children living in concentration camp like conditions. For years they'd received no affection or even contact with others and were suffering severe malnutrition and emotional deprivation. The world was shocked to see the pathetic figures, unable to even respond to overtures from concerned adults
A close friend and colleague of mine is working there now, along with many other dedicated volunteers, to rehabilitate these innocent victims in proper children’s' homes.
